THE MONASTERY ACTIVITIES
Palpung Riglam Kyetsal Monastic Primary School
Following the vision and guidance of Guru Vajradhara H.H. the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, sports activities, such as football and basketball playgrounds were built to support the well-being of Palpung Sherabling Monastic Seat’s monastic community. Students of the Monastic Primary School dedicate 45 minutes each day to playing sports, while students of other departments do that during weekly holidays. It is also customary that during the New Year celebrations and summer holidays the students form sports teams and compete in tournaments. Following this tradition, sports teams from various departments of the monastic seat joyfully participated in this year’s football and cricket summer sports tournaments for five days.

As part of their religious education the young monks recite the core prayers by heart and they also study Tibetan and English, and have general studies that include mathematics, geography, and general science. The inclusion of normal academic studies help them to integrate into life outside of the monastic world.
