In accordance with the vision of Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa and with permission from the Government of Himachal Pradesh Ministry of Health, free eye camps are organised every year at different locations in the Himalayan region by Palpung Munishasan Dharma Chakra Sangh.
This year, Lama Tashi Dhondup, the head of Palpung Sherabling Health Centre, along with a complete medical team from the Rotary Eye Hospital in Maranda, Palampur, headed by specialist eye surgeon Dr Rohit Sharma travelled to Pooh, Kinnaur, where the free surgical eye camp was held from June 27 to 29.
The team checked a total of 580 people from the Pooh area as well as the entire Upper Kinnaur region for eye diseases and distributed free medicines. 28 patients required eye surgery and 240 received appropriate eyeglasses. Thus, a large number of local villagers with various vision-related problems affecting the quality of their lives were able to receive necessary treatment.
